Where is Phoenix Weightlifting Club located? Where do I park?

21 Warner St, Oakleigh VIC 3166, very close to Huntingdale Station.

There is free parking on Warner St, Railway Ave and other nearby streets..


How much does it cost?

NOTE: The below fees are current as at 06 December 2024, and are subject to change at any time.

Senior: 12-month: $980

Junior (u20) / Full-time Student / Pensioner / Unemployed:12-month: $780

Youth (u17) / School Student: 12-month: $520

New members will be charged pro-rata for the residue of the calendar year..


When is the club open?

Monday: 9:30AM – 11:30AM / 4:30PM – 8:00PM

Tuesday: 5:30PM – 7:30PM

Wednesday: 9:30AM – 11:30AM / 4:30PM – 8:00PM

Thursday: Closed

Friday: 9:30AM – 11:30AM / 4:30PM – 8:00PM

Saturday: 10:00AM – 12:00PM / 2:00PM – 5:30PM

Sunday: Closed


What is included in membership?

Members receive coaching in a group environment and individualised programming. Members can train at any time during open hours.


How do I get started?

Fill out our contact us form and book your free trial session.

Come to the gym! Dress in comfy gym clothes. If you don’t have weightlifting shoes yet we have some pairs to borrow.

Our coaches will guide you through the fundamentals of snatch, clean and jerk, and all the supporting exercises.

After joining Phoenix Weightlifting Club, our coaches will provide individualized programming and supervision to help support you with your weightlifting goals.


What do I wear?

Dress in comfy gym clothes. If you don’t have weightlifting shoes yet we have some pairs to borrow.


What are the gym rules?

  • Avoid walking in front of people lifting
  • Encourage and support the people around you
  • Be respectful of your fellow lifters
  • Clean and put away your equipment when finished with it
  • Keep the platforms clear of excess equipment
  • Help out with local competitions by volunteering for competition duties (no prior experience required)

Do I have to compete?

No, we encourage members to compete in Victorian Weightlifting Association (VWA) contests, but we have a few who just train for fun and fitness.


How do I get started competing?

After joining the VWA, there are many competitions throughout the year that are great for beginners. Phoenix runs several competitions themselves including the Ian Laurie Cup. The club has weightlifting competition costumes available for members to borrow.
